Embryogenesis is a co-op platformer where you and a partner can either stick together or branch off into separate paths. The lab setting shifts from survival to exploration as you uncover a future shaped by runaway corporate power and AI. Puzzle sections and branching goals keep the pacing unpredictable. The game’s standout is its team dynamic. Splitting up adds risk and reward, forcing players to trust their partner’s progress. While the narrative about humanity’s collapse under corporate greed isn’t flashy, it grounds the chaos. A small but vocal group of players online praise the balance between tight controls and environmental storytelling. With no hand-holding, it leans into Metroidvania’s classic “discover to proceed” ethos. The lack of voice acting and sparse dialogue let the setting speak for itself.

Storyline

You've woken up to a changed world. Maybe you did sign up for cryonic preservation, maybe you did not, but in either case the facility you've awoken within is under attack. Do you stop it, or do you run away? Discover what has become of humanity after corporations were allowed to go too far, and Artificial Superintelligence has done its damage.
