"For what it’s worth, point-and-click adventures largely end up becoming a story. Encodya is exactly that. It’s a heartwarming story of life and lessons learned. The gameplay is largely incidental, but the setting, though derivative, is an absolute win. Players that are unfamiliar with the genre may want to forego it if they crave a bit more action, but it’s difficult to not suggest Encodya to point-and-click enthusiasts. It’s difficult, it’s enchanting, and it’s a bit odd—even if it isn’t wholly original. But, to be fair, the studio praised their inspirations more openly than most would anyways."

Encodya is a point-and-click adventure set in a dystopian future where a young girl and her malfunctioning robot navigate a corporatized city. You guide Tina and SAM-53 through Neo-Berlin’s gritty rooftops and shadowy streets solving environmental puzzles and uncovering fragments of their world’s fractured story. The gameplay leans heavily on inventory-based interactions and timed challenges that test both logic and reflexes. Sparse dialogue lets the crumbling setting and mechanical companion’s quirks carry much of the emotional weight. The game’s stark cyberpunk visuals and tense atmosphere stand out most. With 16 achievements and a rarest unlock at 3.60% difficulty, it rewards precise timing and close observation. Though released in 2021 it maintains a cult following for its atmospheric worldbuilding and clever use of limited dialogue to build character. Available across multiple platforms including Switch and mobile it offers a compact but intense experience in 8 to 12 hours. The corporate-ruled setting feels prescient without leaning into overused tropes.
