You pilot a fighter in Ensign-1, a space combat game where you can drop to enemy hulls take control of turrets or steal their ships. Missions mix dogfighting with on-foot chaos as you switch between flying and boarding. Weapons and enemy types change up the action keeping each encounter feeling fresh. Only Human Studios released this PC exclusive in 2014. While small in scale the game’s focus on switching between air and ground combat sets it apart from typical shooters. Players note the sharp controls and variety of missions though the learning curve might trip some up. Single player only but the 20 hour runtime offers solid value for fans of action with a twist.
