Eon Altar is a local co-op RPG for 1-4 players that mixes turn-based combat with a story driven by player choices. Set in a world where an ancient evil awakens, the game lets each participant use their smartphone as a private screen to track their character’s hidden motivations, secret thoughts, and available dialogue options. Players read lines aloud themselves, acting out their roles in real time. Success depends on teamwork and roleplaying, every decision impacts the story, and failure means everyone shares the consequences. The game stands out for its hands-on approach to cooperative storytelling. The free Controller App for iOS and Android turns phones into essential tools for leveling heroes, accepting hidden quests, and shaping conversations. It works just as well solo as it does with friends, supporting split-screen and online modes. While the tactical combat and branching narrative keep things engaging, the real draw is the live, in-person interaction.
