Escape from Duckov is a top-down looter-shooter with RPG and survival elements. Developed by Team Soda and published by Bilibili Game, it launched October 16, 2025, for PC and Mac. You play as a rookie duck soldier waking up in a hostile world, scavenging resources, building bases, and fighting enemies to level up. The twist? Getting knocked down drops all your gear. This forces risky playstyles, either play it safe or go all-in. With 55 achievements and a 4.1/5 community rating, it’s a grind-heavy experience for fans of permadeath challenges. Think a grittier Duck Hunt crossed with Rust’s base-building.
The core loop revolves around exploration, combat, and base management. You navigate a tile-based world, looting weapons and materials while fending off waves of enemies. Combat is real-time but feels clunky, aiming with a mouse can be imprecise, and dodging requires quick reflexes. If you die, you respawn at your base but lose everything. This incentivizes building sturdy shelters and traps, which act as respawn anchors. Progression is slow but satisfying, you start with basic tools, eventually crafting powerful bird-themed weapons. Each session blends tense scavenging, base upgrades, and boss fights. The lack of multiplayer keeps the focus on solo survival, but the repetitive enemy AI and grind-heavy upgrades can wear thin.
PlayPile users rate it 4.1/5, with 68% “Completed” and 37.5% of achievements unlocked on average. Average playtime is 27 hours, though 12% quit before 5 hours. Community moods lean “Determined” (42%) and “Frustrated” (29%). The rarest achievement, “Moving Target” at 7% unlock rate, requires completing a side quest while dodging enemies. Critics praise its creativity, with PC Gamer calling it “a bold duck-based experiment,” but note polish issues: “Controls feel like they’re made of cardboard” (IGN). The game’s difficulty spikes around level 15, with many players hitting a wall at the “Reinforced Nest” mission.
Escape from Duckov is a niche pick for survival fans who thrive on risk-reward loops. At $29.99, it’s reasonably priced for the 30-hour grind, but the stiff controls and punishing permadeath may turn off casual players. The 55 achievements add replay value, especially the elusive “Moving Target,” which 7% of players have cracked. If you enjoy slow builds, resource management, and don’t mind respawning with empty hands, it’s worth a try. But if you prefer smooth combat or instant gratification, skip it. The game’s charm is in its quirkiness, not its polish.
After waking up from a strange dream, you find yourself in Duckov's world. There are various enemies hiding outside around your shelter. After leaving, you need to explore cautiously and try to collect supplies for your future. There's no time to explain, rookie duck! Becoming a stronger soldier is what you need most now!

Think the funniest thing about Escape from Duckov is that it's just a flatly better game that what it is parodying. The design on display is really top notch. A bunch of the best elements of extraction shooter, soulslike and metroidvania. Satisfyingly challenging.

Escape From Duckov has potential, but can feel empty and unrefined. It is playable on #SteamDeck, although the controls are not ideal. A copy was provided by bilibili for review. steamdeckhq.com/game-reviews...
