ESPN Baseball Tonight by Park Place Productions is a baseball simulation with a focus on control and strategy. Choose from exhibition matches playoffs or practice sessions that let you hone pitching or batting skills. The game features 28 authentic MLB teams though player names are absent. Gameplay uses a behind-the-batter perspective for both hitting and pitching while fielding requires manual input to throw the ball back to the pitcher after each play. Options to toggle errors and assisted fielding add flexibility to the challenge. The Sega CD release expands the formula with a full 162-game season mode and over 10 minutes of pre-recorded video highlights. While the lack of real player likenesses and dated presentation might limit appeal today the hands-on fielding mechanics and mode variety stood out for its time. A niche title that emphasizes gameplay over flash.
