Everyone's a Wally is a puzzle game where you jump between six characters each with their own tasks. Starting as Wally, a handyman, you can switch to his wife Wilma and pals Tom, Dick, and Harry, each with distinct jobs like plumbing or electrical work. You can only swap characters when they’re onscreen, and each has separate lives. If any character dies, you lose. The goal is to collect letters from completed tasks to spell a password that unlocks a shared reward. The game’s standout is its early use of AI-controlled characters. When not in your control, they wander aimlessly, creating chaos and obstacles. The password “BREAK” is hidden in plain sight, most letters are visible before collection, but you must gather them all to proceed. The inclusion of a baby character as a hazard and the cooperative yet interdependent gameplay made it ahead of its time. Released in 1985, it’s often cited in retro circles for its clever, chaotic design.
