About

Extortion casts you as a computer engineer entangled in a digital extortion scheme. Through a text-based command line interface, you execute hacking tasks like breaching firewalls, stealing files, and evading security systems. The game alternates between stealthy server intrusions and narrative-driven choices. Each mission raises the stakes as you weigh compliance with your blackmailer’s demands against opportunities to trace and confront them. Progress hinges on balancing risk, resource management, and timing. The game’s branching narrative emphasizes player agency, with decisions shaping outcomes between obedience and vengeance. While the story unfolds in a minimalist style, its tight pacing and escalating tension have earned it a 78% rating on Steam. Set in a single-player framework, it leans into procedural challenges and moral dilemmas without frills. Released in 2020, it remains a niche pick for fans of text-based strategy and cyber-thriller themes.
