F-Zero: Maximum Velocity is a high-speed racing game that pits players against AI or friends on tracks filled with loops, jumps, and hazards. You customize futuristic vehicles with different stats and weapons then hit boost pads to甩 (oh wait, no em dashes) to gain speed. The Game Boy Advance version adds new circuits and vehicles while retaining the series' focus on sharp turns and momentum management. Up to four players can compete locally using a Game Link cable or split-screen for head-to-head chaos. The split-screen mode remains a standout feature for its time letting rivals share a single screen without lag. Though largely overlooked when released it's gained a small following among retro racing fans. Its 7.5/10 Metacritic score hints at solid but unspectacular execution though the competitive multiplayer still holds up. Shorter races and simple controls make it easy to pick up but mastering drifts and item usage adds depth.
