Players compete with the 20 drivers who started the season, using 15 adjustable driver aids to tailor the experience. The game supports single player, split-screen multiplayer on Wii, and features modes like Quick Race and Time Trial. Mechanics include KERS technology, though every car has it instead of limiting it to real-life users. The game leans into period-accurate tracks and car setups while simplifying some real-world complexities. KERS availability on all vehicles makes it more accessible but less realistic. The Fair Play system adjusts difficulty based on skill in multiplayer, keeping matches competitive. Released in late 2009, it ran on older hardware including the PSP and Vita.
