Fahrenheit is a 1995 adventure game where you play a firefighter responding to three burning buildings. Each level tasks you with rescuing civilians, protecting property, and neutralizing dangers like gas leaks and explosives. The game uses full-motion video with live-action footage to simulate real-time decisions. Actions unfold in short clips, requiring quick choices to progress. The Sega 32X version offered higher video quality but both CD variants were sold together in North America. Developed by Sega Studio USA, the game arrived during the full-motion video trend of the mid-90s. Its straightforward rescue mechanics and limited interactivity stand out compared to later FMV titles. Despite technical constraints, it’s a relic of early CD-based gaming experimentation. Japan and Europe received only the lower-quality Sega CD version. Nostalgic players note its place in the short-lived FMV genre, though modern reviews rarely rank it as a classic.
After an introduction exposition scene the player advances to the first of three burning buildings (i.e. a house, an apartment, and a college service basement) to rescue victims and property while disposing of potential hazards (explosives, kerosene, gas valves, etc.).
