Fairytale

About

Fairytale is a strategy game where a group of kids fights off an invasion of pigs near their village. Players alternate moving units across a map before transitioning to real-time combat sequences that mix quick reflexes with tactical planning. The gameplay balances top-down strategy with sudden bursts of action, requiring careful resource management and positioning to overcome increasingly tough opponents. Despite its whimsical art style and child-friendly theme, the game is unexpectedly challenging. Community reviews highlight its tough difficulty curve and clever level design, which keep matches tense even for experienced players. As the final release from Soft Pro International on the Famicom Disk System, it also holds a niche spot in retro gaming circles for its distinct blend of genres. The pig army doesn't play fair, and neither does the difficulty.
