About

In Fallout 3 you play as a vault-dweller who steps outside into a radioactive wasteland to track down a missing parent. The game lets you build any character from a blank slate then survive encounters with Mutants Raiders and Ghouls in the ruins of Washington DC. Scavenge for weapons craft tools and barter with factions while navigating a large map filled with side quests and hidden dangers. Your decisions affect alliances and outcomes as you balance combat stealth or diplomacy to progress. The game stands out for its retro-futuristic aesthetic blending 1950s design with post-apocalyptic grit. Community ratings highlight its 92 Metascore and praise for branching storylines and world-building. The Collector’s Edition bundles art books soundtrack and exclusive in-game items. Players often note its replayability with over 100 hours of content reported. The Capital Wasteland feels alive with hazards and character even if the main quest takes 20 to 30 hours to complete.

Storyline

Vault 101 Jewel of the Wastes. For 200 years, Vault 101 has faithfully served the surviving residents of Washington DC and its environs, now known as the Capital Wasteland. Though the global atomic war of 2077 left the US all but destroyed, the residents of Vault 101 enjoy a life free from the constant stress of the outside world. Giant Insects, Raiders, Slavers, and yes, even Super Mutants are all no match for superior Vault-Tec(R) engineering. Yet one fateful morning, you awake to find that your father has defied the Overseer and left the comfort and security afforded by Vault 101 for reasons unknown. Leaving the only home you've ever known, you emerge from the Vault into the harsh Wasteland sun to search for your father, and the truth.
