Fausts Alptraum by LabORat Studio is an indie puzzle adventure where you navigate a distorted crayon world as Elisabeth Faust. After her father’s death, she descends into a surreal basement haunted by a mysterious demon. Gameplay revolves around solving environmental puzzles to uncover connections between her grief-stricken memories and the shifting dreamscapes. Each decision impacts her path forward as she searches for an exit while questioning what’s real. The game’s stark black-and-yellow visuals create an unsettling atmosphere that complements its psychological themes. Players piece together fragmented narrative elements through exploration rather than direct exposition. With a 78% positive rating on Steam, fans praise its atmospheric design and clever use of minimalistic art to convey emotional weight. The challenge lies not just in solving puzzles but in interpreting their meaning within Elisabeth’s fractured psyche.
Elisabeth Faust was attending her father's funeral. Father had left her sorrow, depression, and an antiquated house. She walked into the building and followed a black cat down to the basement. Darkness suddenly claimed her sight. A purple demon materialized out of nowhere, smiling like they were old friends. The person she’d come to find was nowhere to be found. There was a sweet fragrance in the house. "I’ll show you the way out if you really want to leave." Thus the crayon illustrated story began, but she couldn’t tell if this was memory or imaginary. “But if at any moment, you wax nostalgic about your time here, or wish to preserve any instant for eternity, you lose. ” Candlestick in hand, she now has to seize the faintest trail to escape from this nightmare.
