Two players face off simultaneously using a row of buttons on either side of a 9-inch monitor. The game arrived during the height of the trivia trend and features a question count that outpaces many competitors of the era. Correct answers earn points while incorrect ones shift the advantage to the opponent, keeping matches fast and tense. The cabinet itself resembled a jukebox with a woodgrain finish, designed for settings beyond traditional arcades. It packed nearly 3700 questions using custom compression techniques, a technical feat for its era. Exidy offered EPROM replacement kits to refresh the question pool, though these are now exceedingly rare among collectors. With its competitive two-player mode and straightforward design, Fax remains a niche but notable entry in early arcade trivia history.
