Fetch Quest is a visual novel that leans hard into its own chaotic premise. You follow Flora, a self-aware adventurer roped into recovering a stolen item from a bandit gang. Her only allies are two ill-prepared companions who rely on her to do all the work while delivering deadpan banter. The story unfolds through dialogue, choices, and a narrator who constantly breaks the fourth wall to mock the characters’ incompetence. Gameplay is light on mechanics, focusing instead on snappy writing and escalating absurdity as the trio’s heist goes predictably wrong. The game’s charm lies in its self-deprecating humor and the narrator’s relentless commentary. Hollowmend’s quirky dialogue and character dynamics have earned it a small but dedicated following. Released in 2019, it runs on PC, Mac, and Linux with minimal fuss. While short and uneven, it’s a brisk romp for fans of meta storytelling and lighthearted absurdism.
Would-be adventurer Flora accepts a job to retrieve a stolen item for a shady bartender. In order to retrieve the item, she'll have to infiltrate a group of notorious bandits by posing as a new recruit. Fortunately, she has the help of two other adventurers. UNfortunately, her companions seem completely useless without her! According to the strangely vocal narrator, this would have gone more smoothly if everyone had remembered to make their characters beforehand...
