Final Blaster is a vertical-scrolling shooter where you pilot a fighter jet against waves of alien forces. The core gameplay loop centers on dodging attacks while firing a signature charge shot shaped like a phoenix. This special weapon lets you destroy massive enemies other projectiles can’t touch. Difficulty scales dynamically based on your performance, finish a level with more power-ups or avoid deaths and the next round gets easier. The game’s adaptive difficulty and phoenix shot set it apart in the 16-bit shooter scene. Originally exclusive to Japan’s PC Engine, it launched the same day as another local title but never saw wider release. Its smart design and punishing yet fair mechanics earned it a cult following, with retro gaming communities often praising its polish. The Wii version later brought it to a new audience, though the original remains a sought-after rarity.
