Final Fantasy IV Advance is a remastered version of a classic RPG originally released for WonderSwan Color. It brings the story of Cecil and his allies to Game Boy Advance and Wii U with updated features. Players take on a traditional turn-based combat system while exploring a world filled with new dungeons and bosses. The game allows switching between party members during battles adding strategy to each encounter. A revised script stays closer to the original narrative and character portraits now appear in dialogue. New weapons and items appear in expanded areas increasing the challenge for those familiar with earlier versions. The inclusion of quicksave lets players save anywhere though the file deletes after loading. This adds a layer of risk without overwhelming save management. While it doesn't reinvent the formula the additions make it feel fresh for newcomers and offer a steeper challenge for returning players. It holds an 8.2/10 on GameFAQs reflecting its loyal following. The port maintains the core experience while offering enough tweaks to justify a playthrough appealing to those who appreciate traditional JRPGs.
