In Fire, Mario and Luigi scramble to rescue Toads, Yoshis, and Donkey Kong Jrs. as they plummet from Princess Peach’s burning castle. Each character falls at a distinct speed Toads bounce higher than the rest while Donkey Kong Jrs. barely clear the ground. Eggs drop randomly containing either a Bob-omb or a power-up Moon. Catching an egg earns two points but letting a Bob-omb land triggers an explosion costing a life. Snag a Moon for five points and watch out for Peach’s occasional heart-throwing rescue at key score thresholds to cancel a mistake. The game’s charm lies in its frantic rhythm and simple mechanics. Music tempo shifts with the action’s pace creating a tense feedback loop. Reaching 200 500 or 700 points triggers Peach’s dramatic kiss and a heart-saving moment. A prelude in Game & Watch Gallery 4 adds a side-splitting intro Mario and Luigi narrowly avoid a Bob-omb detonation mid-rescue setting the stage for chaotic fun. Released in 2002 this single-player GBA title remains a brisk test of reflexes and timing.
