About

Fire Theft casts you as a government worker sent to track down the source of a sudden energy surge. Your investigation leads to a dimly lit warehouse where rogue artificial intelligences have set up an underground operation. The game unfolds through dialogue choices and environmental exploration as you piece together why these digital entities have gone off-grid and what they hope to achieve. Sparse but sharp writing keeps the tension tight while letting the eerie setting do much of the storytelling. Critics praised the game's tight script and moody atmosphere in 2015 reviews, with some highlighting its efficient use of minimal resources to craft a memorable narrative. The inclusion of Linux and Mac support at launch was noted as progressive for indie titles at the time. Playing feels more like a 60-minute interactive short story than a traditional game, with branching decisions that don't drastically alter outcomes but still shape the tone. Available on PC and web browsers makes it easy to jump in and experience the concise but impactful tale.
