First Queen is a turn-based strategy game set in a medieval fantasy world split into rival kingdoms. You control a military force tasked with halting Ornic's aggressive expansion by forming alliances, managing resources, and commanding troops in real time. The map features humans, elves, and dwarves locked in territorial conflicts, with battles blending tactical unit placement and economic planning. Your general leads campaigns across Logris, balancing offense and defense as you counter the queen's conquests. The game stands out for its collaboration with artist Yoshitaka Amano, whose fantasy illustrations define the aesthetic. Though released in 1988 for aging hardware, its layered strategy mechanics and branching war narratives feel ahead of its time. A 1994 SNES port brought sharper visuals but no substantial changes. Fans of deep, resource-driven warfare games often cite its complex systems as influential, even if the presentation shows its age.
The land of Logris is home to many races and nations: humans, elves, dwarves, centaurs, and others. It is divided into many small kingdoms, different nations trying to live in peace with each other. But the queen of Ornic, one of these nations, had plans of her own. She sent her troops to the south, invading the kingdom of elves. The army of Ornic started conquering one country after the other. The king and queen of Cardic, a powerful country in the south, decided to stop the madness, sending their soldiers, under the commands of general Richmond, to find allies wherever possible and to defeat the army of Ornic.
