Floatlands

About

Floatlands puts you in control of the last uncorrupted robot wandering a shattered archipelago. You will navigate procedurally generated islands filled with distinct biomes like snow and desert while gathering scrap metal, wood, and wool to survive. The gameplay loop focuses on building a functional base from scratch using an electric system where you must connect cables and fuel generators to power lights and turrets. While the current version supports single player, the core experience blends first-person shooting with deep crafting mechanics as you defend your shelter against other hostile machines. What stands out is how the random world generation ensures no two sessions feel the same since every quest and island layout changes on restart. You can approach situations as a cautious explorer or an aggressive fighter who hunts down enemies for parts. The electric building system adds a technical layer that separates this from standard survival shooters, letting you create complex setups with fifty different build parts across three material tiers. Since multiplayer is still in the works, the current focus remains on polishing these solo survival and exploration elements within the early development phase.

Storyline

Your character is the last non-corrupted and reworked robot that was used for ordinary chores and to help human progress. Robots were used in various professions, from fireman assistants to gardeners and babysitters. Someone decided to benefit from all this and corrupted (hacked) the robots. It came to a Kvall-Hebert war, which fractured the world to a multitude of islands (Floatlands). Kvall-Hebert war was a war between two brothers who started manufacturing house accessories and machines - from generators, lights to advanced robots. Because of their competitiveness they directed their army of robots against eachother, hacked and corrupted them. The war almost wiped out humanity, so it's a possibility that you'll find some humans in the game, besides animals. You are the last robot that seeks purpose in this world, trying to survive, explore and find the secrets of what really happened in the past.
