You’re piloting a defenseless spaceship in a gridlocked battlefield. Squares define your movement, only left right up or down, and gaps between them force calculated leaps. Swarms of armored beetles descend on your base each wave tougher than the last. Your ship has no weapons just speed and positioning. Dodge blasts outrun explosions and chain jumps across open spaces to keep the beetles from breaching the station. Timing matters more than firepower in this survival loop that escalates with every wave. Fobos turns limited controls into a tense puzzle. The rigid grid and lack of combat tools create a distinct challenge that leans on reflexes and route planning. Released in 2003 it hasn’t aged well graphically but the core loop still clicks for players who enjoy high pressure arcade rhythms. Its cult following remains small but vocal, proof that simplicity and escalating stakes can stick around even when pixels fade.
