When UX is done right, you hardly notice. But players sure noticed Football Manager 26 and Civ VII's many issues at launch. UX expert @celiahodent.com explained why, despite the clear harm to first impressions, game UX is too often left to post-launch fixes.

The discourse around the beta for Football Manager 26 leaves me glad I never upgrade the game if I can help it. Sticking with FM23, which I never would have purchased except my new laptop at the time couldn’t run FM15 anymore. I still miss 15, sometimes
