"Outside of the campaign and options for a single race, there just isn't much here. The eight tracks get old quick, and the online portion is dead - each time this was attempted, there were never any lobbies running. Free updates that include new tracks may extend the life value, and R8 Games has shown commitment to supporting the game since the weeks following its release, but there needs to be more to entice people to stick with it. As it stands, Formula Fusion is an anti-grav racer that looks and somewhat feels like Wipeout, but doesn't have the content and appeal of it."

About

Formula One lets you run a racing team from the boardroom instead of the cockpit. You handle car setups, tire choices, and pit stop timing while managing budgets and driver morale. The game focuses on strategic decision making over raw reflexes with turn based mechanics that play out across fictional races. Simple sprite work and text menus match the ZX Spectrum and Amstrad CPC hardware capabilities of the early 80s. This 1983 title holds a niche place as one of the first management simulations in motorsports gaming. While primitive by modern standards the core loop of balancing risk and reward has aged better than most contemporaries. A small but dedicated retro gaming community keeps it alive on emulator lists though original cartridge copies now fetch collector's prices online.
