Fragmented Almanac is a point-and-click puzzle game split between two contrasting settings. One path tasks you with navigating The Hideout, a labyrinth of alchemical texts and cryptic symbols, to piece together a fractured timeline. The other drops you as The Pilot on a crashed spaceship, where you repair systems and decode alien ruins blending sci-fi and ancient motifs. Both halves rely on inventory-based puzzles and environmental exploration, with solutions often hinging on interpreting abstract visuals and symbolic clues. The Dreamcast’s hardware limitations shape the art style, which mashes pixel art with minimalist designs to create an eerie, otherworldly feel. The game’s most striking trait is its dual-narrative structure, which links disparate worlds through shared themes of decay and rebirth. ANTIRUINS spent seven years refining this project, originally planned as five separate games, resulting in a dense, layered experience. Early players praise its cryptic storytelling and inventive puzzle design, though the 3-4 hour runtime leaves some wanting more. With its odd mix of alchemy, space exploration, and time-bending mechanics, it’s a bold experiment in retro-inspired narrative design.
