"In practice, however, enemy ships frequently launch bullets directly in front of them. Enemy ships can inflict contact damage, as well. Since it takes time to complete grabs successfully and punching makes it easy to lose track of where you’ll end up once the punch motion ends and your ship has shifted closer to enemies, neither are practical outside of a handful of boss fights. Freedom Finger takes its idea of a no-nonsense space shooter with political overtones and oodles of profanity and builds off of it in interesting ways, but “interesting” and “fun” don’t always overlap, and I didn’t have as much fun with Freedom Finger as its outlandish concept appeared to promise at the outset."

Freedom Fighters! is a fast-paced shooter that pits you against waves of enemies crawling onto the screen. Control a simple ship that moves left or right, firing to survive as the action ramps up. The game's design keeps things straightforward but tough, with each round bringing faster threats and tighter reactions. Playing solo or with a friend adds to the chaos, though the real challenge comes from keeping up with the relentless pace. What makes this game stick out is how it balances simplicity with difficulty. It’s one of the few Odyssey 2 titles that supports two players at once, making it a rare pick for local co-op back in 1982. The lack of frills means the focus stays on quick reflexes and split-second decisions. While it doesn’t reinvent the genre, the straightforward action holds up for quick bursts of high-stress fun.
