Fushigi no Kuni no Alice is a 1984 text adventure that casts you as Alice navigating the surreal logic of Wonderland. You interact with familiar characters through typed commands to solve puzzles and survive the shifting dangers of the world. Core mechanics involve collecting items that alter your size or prevent deadly falls, practical tools in a realm where physics are optional. Dialogue and descriptions are delivered in Japanese, though the game lets you choose between typing commands in English or Japanese, with object names adapting to your selection. This relic from the early 80s stands out for its straightforward implementation of a beloved literary world in a format that demanded players learn its logic through trial and error. While its text-only presentation and dated platforms (PC-9800, MSX, etc) feel nostalgic, the language flexibility at launch was rare for the era. Community playthroughs highlight its charm as a minimalist take on Lewis Carroll’s whimsy, though modern audiences might find the lack of visual aids and rigid save systems challenging.
Japanese text adventure that is based on the novel of the same name by Lewis Carrol. The player becomes Alice, the main character in the novel, and roams in Wonderland. Here she will meet several characters from the novel whom she can talk to. There are items that can change Alice's size or prevent her from falling to her death in certain places. Although the text of the game is in Japanese, you have to choose at the beginning of the game whether you want to type the text commands in Japanese (Katakana) or in English. The objects (i.e. TABLE, RABBIT, etc) will also be only in that language.
