About

Galaga '88 is a tougher, more intricate sequel to the 1982 arcade hit. Players guide a starship through 29 stages split across eight worlds, dodging waves of enemies that shrink, split, or shield themselves. Each world ends with a "Challenging Stage" where enemies dance to quirky synthesized tunes, changing patterns based on how far you've progressed. You can earn extra points by staying still during these levels or by wiping out entire formations. New threats include enemies that merge into bigger targets, hatch from eggs, or explode into fireworks, keeping every round unpredictable. The game’s standout is its variety: no two stages feel exactly alike thanks to shifting enemy tactics and dimension-hopping mechanics. Secret bonuses and hidden warp capsules add depth beyond simple shooting. With two starting lives to choose from and optional continues on earlier stages, it balances punishing difficulty with replay value. Available on multiple systems including the Wii and retro consoles, Galaga '88 has built a cult following for its clever twists on classic arcade gameplay.
