About

Galaxy is a retro space shooter with strategy elements inspired by Galaga. Control a spaceship maneuvering left and right to fire at waves of descending aliens. Each stage repeats the same pattern but enemies grow faster over time, forcing tighter spacing as beams shrink the playable area. Color-coded foes demand varied tactics some need multiple hits while others change approach. Challenge stages appear after several levels with new layouts offering bonus points based on kills. The game balances reflexes and planning as players track lives and scores to unlock extra ships. The game stands out for its deliberate difficulty curve and layered scoring. Its 1981 release made it one of the earliest home versions of coin-op shooter concepts. While simple by modern standards, the evolving enemy behavior and bonus mechanics created a satisfying rhythm. Early 8-bit players praised its compact yet challenging design, and the multiplatform availability across DOS, C64, and others helped it gain cult status. Nostalgia sites often highlight it as a bridge between arcade simplicity and home strategy gaming.
