Ganryu is a fast-paced platform brawler that mixes acrobatic combat with puzzle-like level design. You play as Musashi or Suzume, two warriors using swords, grappling claws, and found weapons to fight through waves of ninjas. The grappling claw does double duty as a long-range attack and a tool for scaling obstacles. Each level hides collectibles and shortcuts while rescuing hostages gives you power-ups like healing food or score-boosting coins. The game balances action with light exploration letting you switch between aggressive swordplay and clever environmental use. The claw’s versatility stands out letting you swing between platforms or snare enemies from a distance. Multiplayer modes support co-op or head-to-head battles adding replayability. Though it didn’t hit mainstream success it’s a cult favorite among Neo Geo fans. Released in 1999 its mix of combat and traversal keeps it fresh as a quirky relic of late 90s arcade design.
