Gear City Against Chaos drops you into a crumbling metropolis besieged by an ancient mechanical god. You take charge of a self-contained urban hub called the Wheel City, balancing resource management with base building while fending off relentless attacks. Incoming survivors drain supplies but bolster defenses. You allocate power grids, reinforce walls, and assign workers to keep systems running as strange cosmic entities breach the perimeter. Combat unfolds through turn-based tactics and automated defenses. Each decision strains limited resources. The game’s tight feedback loops force tough tradeoffs between expansion and survival. A growing population raises efficiency but attracts more threats. The oppressive atmosphere and escalating enemy designs keep tension high despite the slow burn of base-building. ZKW’s 2019 release underperformed commercially but carved a niche for its pressure-cooker strategy. No multiplayer modes but the single player campaign lasts 30-40 hours with optional defense challenges. Best played on mid-2017 hardware.
