About

Generation Xth: Code Hazard is a dungeon-crawling RPG where you build a six-member team from 16 distinct classes to explore the dangerous Abyss. Developed by Team Muramasa, it’s the first entry in a trilogy that blends strategy and character progression. Each run requires careful planning as you assign roles, upgrade abilities, and tackle procedurally generated challenges. The game’s core loop focuses on survival and resource management, with your progress carrying over to the next installment in the series. Set in a near-future Tokyo plagued by monstrous malforms and interdimensional portals, the story follows the X-Force, a team of teenagers enhanced by experimental CPO Code tech. Originally confined to Japan, a fan translation in 2008 brought it to global audiences, later leading to re-releases on PlayStation Vita under different titles. The class system and team customization remain its strongest points, though the presentation feels dated by modern standards. Many players cite its tense exploration and branching choices as highlights despite the rough edges.

Storyline

From the wikia: "The setting in near future Tokyo, where monsters known as malforms keep the city under constant threat, and portals that lead to a mysterious dimension known as the Abyss have emerged. To investigate these mysterious phenomena, the government has established a special agency: the Contemporary Physics Organization. Players join the X-Force, a unique group of teenagers modified by the CPO Code technology."
