Ghost Hunters is a side scrolling platformer where players navigate haunted mansions as a ghost hunter. The goal is to collect souls and defeat spectral enemies while avoiding traps. Mechanics include throwing spirit orbs and using power ups to clear rooms. Single player mode focuses on speed and efficiency while cooperative multiplayer lets two players tackle levels together. Developed by the Oliver twins in 1987 this title helped establish Codemasters early reputation. Despite its age the game's tight controls and challenging level design still hold up for retro gaming fans. It remains one of the few platformers from the 80s that balanced action with puzzle elements effectively. The availability on multiple 8 bit systems made it one of the publisher's most accessible early releases.
