Ghost Muncher is a maze-based arcade game where you steer a yellow character through a grid of tunnels to eat dots while avoiding four colored opponents. Players use a joystick to navigate, collect all pellets, and outsmart the chasing ghosts. The gameplay loops on a fixed layout with increasing speed and limited lives. Power pellets let you reverse roles temporarily by turning enemies into targets. The game’s main hook is its visual and audio rework of a familiar formula. Instead of red and blue, the ghosts wear distinct but similarly bold hues. Sound effects and chiptune music replace Pac-Man’s original audio cues. Released in early 1982, it shows how quickly arcade mechanics spread. While it lacks original IP or gameplay shifts, the reimagined presentation gives it a slightly fresher feel than direct copies. No modern ports exist but it’s often grouped with early 80s maze games in retro compilations.
