You play as Lazarus Jones a rookie cop dragged into a paranormal nightmare during his first day on the job. Tasked with checking out odd activity at a shuttered Detroit school Lazarus teams up with his skeptical partner Anna Steele only for their routine call to spiral into chaos. After accidentally unleashing vengeful spirits trapped in the building's secret lab you'll navigate crumbling hallways and shadowy classrooms while fending off spectral attacks. The game splits time between shooting ghosts with standard and supernatural weapons and uncovering clues about the school's bloody past through environmental storytelling and dialogue choices. The eerie atmosphere and sudden jump scares stand out most with tightly wound set pieces that mix survival horror tension and over-the-top ghostly chaos. While the PS2 hardware limits visual polish the school's creaky corridors and sudden apparitions still deliver a distinct chill. Released in 2003 it blends third-person shooting with light investigation elements offering a brisk 8-10 hour hunt for Anna and answers buried in the school's tragic history.
