Glider Rider casts you as a rebel pilot tasked with sabotaging island reactors guarded by laser towers. You control a hybrid motorcycle-glider that gains flight by braking sharply while descending hills. Once airborne you can circle peaks or glide toward targets but altitude only drops, no climbing allowed. To disable defenses you must home in on hidden control towers before tossing grenades at core reactors. Land safely to reset your rig but splashdown means instant death by shark swarm. The tight physics loop of momentum-based flight adds real tension to each run. Mastering when to brake and pivot turns rocky outcrops into launchpads. With 10 reactor sites each guarded by staggered turrets the mid-80s title rewards careful route planning. Original C64 ports still hold up for their snappy controls and clever use of limited sprite tech. A niche but addictive take on vertical action pacing.
