Godzilla: Kaijuu Daikessen is a 2D fighting game where players control eight kaiju from the Godzilla film series. Battle across stages in Japan, selecting opponents on a map before clashing in one-on-one combat. The game offers single-player challenges and local multiplayer options for head-to-head matches. Originally released in Japan in 1994, it never made it to Western audiences despite plans for a 1995 North American launch under the title Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters. The roster includes Godzilla, King Ghidorah, Mothra, and other iconic monsters, each with distinct moves tied to their movie traits. While the game’s simplicity leans into classic arcade combat, its Japan-exclusive status and canceled international release make it a niche entry for collectors. Some community guides note the lack of story depth but praise the punchy, fast-paced action. As a sequel to Godzilla: Battle Legends, it’s a forgotten piece of kaiju gaming history with a dedicated following among retro fans.
In the single player game, players are able to choose from Godzilla himself, Anguirus, King Ghidorah, Gigan, Megalon, Mechagodzilla, Biollante and Mothra. No matter which monster the players select, they are taken to a map of Japan and must select their opponent to battle.
