You play as Cooper Chance a guy trying to save his girlfriend from a spooky mansion filled with creepy monsters. The game mixes platforming exploration with beat 'em up combat as you swing at ghosts ghouls and other weird creatures. Each area has puzzles to solve and traps to avoid while fighting off waves of enemies. The controls are tight for a game from 2003 and the over the top action keeps things moving fast. The real standout is the setting Ghoulhaven Hall feels lived in with creaky doors dim lighting and a cast of bizarre characters. The game leans into its campy horror vibe without taking itself too seriously. While it never made major waves in the industry fans of classic Rare titles remember it for its charm and chaotic energy.
