Gran Trak 20 is a two-player racing sequel that ditches the original’s single-racer formula for head-to-head competition. Players steer coin-operated cabinets using handlebars, adjusting speed with a throttle while navigating a straight track filled with randomly placed barriers. Collisions slow you down but don’t stop the race, encouraging aggressive but strategic maneuvering. The goal is simple: beat your opponent to the finish line in a best-of-three rounds. The game’s most notable trick is letting two humans race directly without computer interference. This made it Atari’s first multiplayer title and a rare arcade fixture for its time. Though primitive by modern standards, its direct approach and competitive edge kept it in arcades for years. No AI opponents. No frills. Just raw, side-by-side speed.
