"GTA 5 feels like an infrastructural flavor in gaming at this point, delivering that same action driving and shooting, showing up to comfort you wherever you might want to play it. When novelty appears, like when I was driving through the night and Burial’s β€œHiders” played on the in-game radio, apparently added back in 2017, it really stands out. But playing GTA 5 today is not generally an exercise in a new experience for millions of us. It is a return to the familiar, a known entity, and these new-gen versions of the game offer us repetition with slight differences. If that is what you’re angling to get out of your time in 2022, GTA 5 is there for you."

About Grand Theft Auto V

Rockstar North dropped Grand Theft Auto V on September 17, 2013, as a massive open-world shooter and racing adventure. Players jump into Los Santos, a satirical version of Los Angeles filled with corrupt celebrities and struggling families. The story follows three distinct criminals: Franklin the hustler, Michael the retired bank robber, and Trevor the unstable psycho. You can play on PlayStation 3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, or PC. This title defined a generation of gaming by letting you control all three protagonists during missions and freely explore the city between them. It remains one of the most played titles on Twitch right now, sitting at rank four globally.

Gameplay

You spend your time switching between Franklin, Michael, and Trevor mid-mission or while driving around town. Combat feels tight whether you are shooting from a car window or taking cover behind walls. The game offers extensive driving physics for everything from lowriders to jet fighters. You can complete story missions, rob banks, play golf, or just cause chaos in the streets. Multiplayer mode lets you team up with friends for cooperative heists or race against them online. Controls feel responsive on PC and consoles alike. Sessions often involve planning a complex robbery, executing it under pressure, and then splitting the take while managing heat from the police.

What Players Think

Critics gave this game serious points across the board. Metacritic sits at 92, OpenCritic shows a 91.60% recommendation rate, and IGN awarded two perfect 100 scores calling it a masterpiece. Our own PlayPile community rates it a 9.1 out of 10 based on seven user reviews. The average playtime here hits 132.3 hours for just 14 logged players, proving how deep the content is. Community vibes lean heavily toward Story-Driven, Hardcore, and Cooperative play. There are 77 achievements total with a low average unlock rate of 13.7%. The rarest task, Cryptozoologist, has only been unlocked by 2.40% of players.

PlayPile's Take

This title is worth the purchase if you want a massive sandbox with a deep narrative and high replayability. At its cheapest on Steam, it costs $19.79, which matches its historical low price point. The achievement system offers real challenges since most players struggle to find the rarest collectibles. You should buy this for the single-player campaign if you enjoy long sessions or jump into GTA Online for endless multiplayer chaos. It is not a game to rush through given the 132-hour average playtime we see from our users. Grab it now before prices go up again.

Storyline

Los Santos: a sprawling sun-soaked metropolis full of self-help gurus, starlets and fading celebrities, once the envy of the Western world, now struggling to stay afloat in an era of economic uncertainty and cheap reality TV. Amidst the turmoil, three very different criminals plot their own chances of survival and success: Franklin, a street hustler looking for real opportunities and serious money; Michael, a professional ex-con whose retirement is a lot less rosy than he hoped it would be; and Trevor, a violent maniac driven by the chance of a cheap high and the next big score. Running out of options, the crew risks everything in a series of daring

Gamers in Indonesia recently noticed that Call of Duty had a 3+ age rating on Steam, Story of Seasons was rated 18+, and Grand Theft Auto V had been refused a classification altogether. The Indonesia Game Rating System has been confusing for gamers and devs. Here's everything you need to know:

Grand Theft Auto V is quite a relaxing game to play these days, in that its depiction of the United States (and of the world generally) somehow seems more utopian than the real places.
