Grim Realms is a pixel art survival sim where you manage a colony of villagers fighting to endure in a world swarmed by undead threats. Playable in side-scrolling view, the game generates diverse biomes like deserts, mountains, and coasts, each teeming with hostile creatures and unpredictable factions. Your villagers scavenge, build, and defend while balancing hunger, fatigue, and morale. Relationships matter, families form, alliances shift, and stress can drive people to betray one another. Combat is handled through ranged weapons and traps, but the real challenge lies in resource management and keeping your people alive long enough to expand your base. The game emphasizes emergent storytelling through its dynamic population system. With no two settlements playing the same way, player choices shape outcomes as villagers adapt, or figure out, under pressure. Edym Pixels released it on PC in March 2024, following their 2021 survival game Grim Nights. While it drops tower defense mechanics, it adds deeper character customization and a procedural world that shifts with each playthrough. Early access reviews highlight its tense survival loops and the emotional weight of watching your community struggle through scarcity and chaos.

Storyline

A world will be generated. It will contain vast oceans, snow covered mountains and bare desert. It will be inhabited by different cultures, brutal pirates, noble intellectuals and everything in between. They will all have one thing in common: the struggle to survive in a world overrun by the the undead... This is sequel to the game Grim Nights. However, many things will be very different. This game will focus less on tower defense and much more on your villagers and the management of your growing settlement. Villagers will have different skills, backgrounds and relationships. They will eat, sleep, fight and work. Sometimes they will be obedient and other times the grim world will break them and force them to turn on eachother.
