Groove on Fight is a follow up from Atlus to their Gouketsuji Ichizoku series set two decades after the previous competition. This 2D fighter blends over the top martial arts with a more mature narrative while keeping the series' signature quirks. Players string together acrobatic combos and flashy special moves in one on one matches choosing from a roster of returning and new fighters. Single player challenges include training modes and story scenarios while multiplayer lets friends clash in head to head bouts. The game balances grittier themes with moments of dry humor setting it apart from earlier entries. Though largely overlooked at launch it's since gained a small but dedicated following for its fluid combat and character designs. Released in 1997 for arcade and Sega Saturn it's a lesser known title even among fighting game fans. The mix of refined mechanics and a shift in tone make it a curious entry in Atlus' library.
