Guardians Frontline drops you into a space-faring conflict where you balance shooting and strategy. As part of a military unit, you fight to secure a valuable alien mineral while managing robot squads and defensive turrets. The controls work smoothly in VR, letting you switch between aiming your rifle and deploying units with hand gestures. Single-player missions have you defending outposts, while multiplayer lets you team up or battle others in real time. Beyond the main story, the level editor and hundreds of community-made maps keep the action fresh. The campaign’s focus on holding key positions mirrors classic real-time strategy games but adds VR’s physical controls for a different feel. Co-op and PvP modes work well, with clear objectives and fast matchmaking. Players on Meta Quest 2 and SteamVR report smooth performance, though the learning curve for managing units might trip up newcomers.
As a Guardian you are part of an elite unit responsible for protecting the federation while they extract a newly discovered and mysterious new energy source, perovskite, a red and very powerful mineral that only grows in the outer rim of the galaxy. In addition to their powerful arsenal, Guardians can also instantly summon and control defensive structures and units to help them fight invading armies.
