Gundam Battle Universe is a mobile suit combat game for PlayStation Portable that lets you pilot over 200 mechs from various Gundam series. Players choose from units like the F91 and Ξ Gundam while progressing through campaigns based on Mobile Suit Gundam ZZ and Char's Counterattack. Each character has two unique abilities one constant passive effect and a HP-dependent active skill adding layers to tactical decisions. The game carries over save data from its predecessor and supports ad hoc multiplayer letting teams assist each other during story missions a shift from earlier titles where online play was limited to the main menu. The standout feature is the cooperative campaign mode which encourages teamwork in ways prior entries didn't allow. With deep unit customization and two storylines to unlock it appeals to long-time fans familiar with the franchise's lore. Though dated by modern standards its focus on mech variety and strategic combat remains intact. The PSP port offers portable battles but lacks the polish of later console entries in the series.
