Halo: Out With a Whimper is a side-scrolling shooter that puts you in a Firefight style battle against Covenant forces. You defend the human mining colony Atlas while enemies swarm from multiple directions. This title started as a gameplay demo for the cancelled project Halo: Olympus before TriBlox pulled the plug in 2013. The story unfolds during the events of Halo 2 and Halo 3 as the Covenant hunt for a secret buried beneath the planet's surface. The game stands out because it offers a different perspective on the franchise using classic two-dimensional mechanics. Players control human soldiers facing overwhelming odds without the need for complex three-dimensional navigation. Since the project never reached full release, this demo remains a rare look at what the studio planned before their main title got cancelled.
