Hamlet mixes first-person exploration with RPG progression in a 3D maze. Your robot navigates the facility with an always-visible auto-map and radar tracking enemies and items. Combat halts movement when foes approach requiring you to wait for an attack meter to fill before shooting. While turns are based on agility the game stays active giving a real-time feel. You’ll balance ammo damage and timing as you take down waves of enemies. Beneath its shooter shell lies a deep RPG. Defeating enemies grants experience boosting stats like attack and speed with each level. Choose from weapons ranging from endless low-power guns to ammo-heavy rockets. Equip two at once and switch mid-fight while using shields and consumables to survive. Though its 1993 release date and PC-9800 platform limit modern play the hybrid design offers a niche experience for fans of unconventional genre mixes.
