About

Hanjuku Hero mixes turn-based RPG mechanics with wandering real-time strategy. You play a prince trying to reclaim a broken kingdom, moving your party across a map to confront enemy castles. When you reach one, a battle triggers automatically based on your stats, no manual combat, just managing who joins you. Level up characters, collect loot, and navigate a story full of goofy Japanese wordplay and absurd side characters. The real-time aspect matters more for exploration than tactics, blending old-school CRPG pacing with a faint RTS flavor. The game feels like a forgotten relic, but fans of quirky, low-stakes RPGs might find it charming. Its humor leans heavily into puns and situational gags, which shine through in the translation. With a runtime around 10-15 hours, it’s short but packed with eccentric moments. Originally from 1988, it’s seen re-releases on modern Nintendo platforms, though it remains a niche oddity. The lack of complex mechanics keeps things light, though the auto-resolving battles might feel abrupt to some.

Storyline

A king used the power of a mysterious egg to unify a continent. However, he suddenly died a day after the unification, and the countries subjected to his rule revolted. The king's heir, the young prince must work with those few still loyal to the king and learn to use the power of the egg to bring order back to the continent.
