Hansel and Gretel DS is a point-and-click adventure with visual novel elements that twists a familiar tale into something darker. You navigate a forest filled with eerie choices that shape the siblings' fate. Dialogue and action decisions determine whether they face predators, villains, or something else entirely. The gameplay mixes inventory puzzles with branching paths, leading to multiple endings. CHARON known for visual novels and horror leans into atmospheric tension here, but the focus stays on player agency. This title feels like a side experiment compared to CHARON’s usual work but holds its own charm. The story reworks the fairy tale with a gritty edge, and the decision trees offer replay value despite a short runtime. While not as polished as the developer’s other projects fans of narrative-driven adventures might find it refreshing. It sits on PC Mac and browsers at a low price making it an easy pick for casual playthroughs.
Another entry in the “Dark Side” fairy tale series (after The Dark Side of Red Riding Hood). Help Hansel and Gretel, abandoned by their parents in the middle of the forest, escape and return home safely. This is a point and click adventure game, a departure from Charon’s usual works, but still fun nevertheless.
