Happy Trails is a tile-shifting puzzle game where you race to collect scattered cash before time runs out. You control a character navigating a maze made of breakable tiles. The twist is that each move shifts the maze itself, you must constantly rearrange tiles to keep a path open. If your character hits a dead end, you lose a life. As you chase money bags, you also need to dodge Black Bart in later levels. The game supports local co-op, with two players working together or competing in the same maze. Its clever use of spatial reasoning and time pressure sets it apart. Players have to plan moves several steps ahead, balancing speed with precision. Released in 1983, it’s a surprisingly modern example of hybrid puzzle-action design. Intellivision owners who enjoy quick, brainy challenges might find its tile-shuffling mechanics feel ahead of its time.
